Thanks all but the real thanks goes out to Mark Mitchell for giving us the opportunity to restore this unique piece of history and trusting us to do it the way it should be done. He was and is a great customer and is now letting us do his 70 Z28/M22 4.10 car. I am sure it will be another 3 weeks before I find this issue on the newsstand so until then.......
Here is the magazine

Rick, you were very conservative on the amount of metal removed and replaced. Was this the owners request? Very different approach compared to other shops.

Roger, the restoration was fully photo documented and many of the photos are posted on our webpage. As far as how much metal was removed, we try and retain as much of the original sheet metal as possible. This is usually more expensive but many people prefer to have "original sheetmetal" in their car as opposed to replacements regardless if they are NOS. We are also able to preserve most all the factory spot welds and die marks using this method. All joints are butt welded removing any signs of the work that was performed and leaving a flawless seam. Floor pans are usually a different story as that is just too cost prohibitive to repair versus replace. The entire floor pan on this car was replaced with a one piece donor from Arizona. Hopefully that answered your question.
