Those 454 breather decals are from the much later trucks when GM went to the die cast valve covers. Restored with what it has, the car would be quite a nice performer.

Man, I gotta agree! The 1970 SS454 (LS-6) Camaro is the car that Chevrolet should have built! What a bad-ass car that would have been! The LS-6 454 was even listed in the AMA Specifications for the 1970 Camaro so that Paper Tiger came extremely close to reality. Heck, the parts & pieces are out there and it wouldn't be too hard to build a great "what if?" car. Imagine that beast in Pure Stock competition.

-----Bill,,,Carguy didnt say anything about Harrell. Just everybody else saying Harrell did build a few (maybe 1 for street?) LS6 Camaros. Seems to me that this old car could have been converted by just about anyone. Im actually unclear about why anybody would think it was done at a dealership. Conn is a long way from from the midwest and this was back in the day when info was primarily gotten thru magazines. I know, as I built my version of a Motion 69 Corvette back in 69/70. Every piece of info I got was gleaned out of magazines. I couldnt afford to send the car to Motion but could afford to modify it myself to my own taste! Much like what we see here.......Bill S

----Robby,,,I as well as others on this sight have worked at Chevy as well as other GM dealerships and Ive not heard of any kind of authorization program, ever! If there was a good enough mechanic in the service bay and a guy was willing to pay for the installation almost any dealer would do a switch like this. The key here is "willing to pay" as the dealership would have undoubtedly charged more than a local service station, or speed shop, or a guys buddy down the street that knew what he was doing. You have a neat piece here but my money is on a more homegrown transplant......Bill S

Does it have a 12 bolt? If so, what is the code? what is the redline on the tach? Distributor numbers? I would say this car would have a better shot than most at being at least a transplant done early on based on the suffix code. Most dealers would start with a L78 car since they could get the LS6 short block and transfer all the top end parts over from the L78.
