Wasn't the original Dodge Deora show car there? What did it sell for? [/ QUOTE ] It was. Think it hammered low 3's ... they drove it across, too. |

I was the internet bidder at up 235k and thought I was going to get the car at $230k but the the other bidder bumped it at the last second.. and I couldnt get back in fast enough. I would have went to 250k but with he commission and shipping thats all I could/wanted to pay. I felt the real money on that car is around 300k to $350k today. That car was never worth anywhere near 1 Million on its best day and when it sold at Barrett in 06' I would have guessed its real value to be around 500k to 600k at the most. Over all I thought most of the stuff did fair money especially some of the Street Rods, The Tommy Evo Wagon, and what blew my mind was the Little Red Wagon doing 500k!! I never thought that would do over $150k. I wasnt surprised at the Jungle Jim cars not alot of interest in Funny Cars that I see.. There neat to look at but at the end of the day they take up space and have no use IMO. And yes selling that stuff at Mecum at the next Spring Indy sale or holding a sale in Phoenix in January when all of the other sales were going on would have produced WAY WAY bigger numbers on alot of stuff. Live and Learn [/ QUOTE ] Damm Andy; that car would look great next to TC's Red Alert at the MCACN show in November! So...were you able to add anything to your fleet? Bashton MCACN Managing Member |

I think the Ray Allen car would have been a much better resto IMO if it was done as Ray had it when he raced it in the beginning. The original "In race trim."

Exactly! The vinyl graphics they added at the last minute helped a little but that car has true history and should be shown as it was when it was "making history".
Who wants to see one of Grumpy's cars in showroom condition? ![]()

Seemed a decent deal, though. Agree a bit inconsistent w/race livery on a bone-stock car - though a few bolt-ons and it's back to as-raced. As mentioned earlier, likely not the ideal venue for that car.

When it was at the BJ auction in '06 I remember seeing the bidder, buyer drinking and a girl on his lap thinking cool car over priced. Granted '06 was the height of the market IMO, but that was too much then. Was that the same year they had that GM bus of the future go for like 4 mill?

Anyone know why the seller decided to part with all of those prime cars? I know he didn't need the money. ![]() Bashton MCACN Managing Member |
