Add my name to the above list of "Post Car Junkies". I've had mine for nine years now. If you go to my website below you will find a lot of information about the 69 300 Deluxe models and what makes them unique from the Malibus. I've also done a lot of research on them over the years. Wasn't the 3-speed in the Chevelle a Saginaw unit?

They may have used the Saginaw on the small blocks and 6 bangers, but the MC1 Muncie HD 3-speed was the standard behind a 396.
