Cool info there, Keith. I'm looking foward to running the Firestone Wide Oval Redlines I just got for my '68 442. I've never driven on any older style tires, so I'm looking forward to the "experience". Should be exciting!

I'll keep everyone posted on what I hear back from Coker. There isn't an e-mail posted for any people who might be in charge, so we'll see what happens. An e-mail has been sent, however.

Seems like every f a s t car I've seen runs bald polyglas re-pops..I think they run 'em really hard too like 50 PSI...

[/ QUOTE ]
That varies about like the tire brand [FStone or GY]...used to, guys never went under 40psi, but the latest trend with some cars is to run 'em down so the Polyglass will actually *wrinkle*...of course, with the 600-700+ horsepower those cars are making there has to be something to absorb a lot of that energy off the line...!

Wrinklin' the walls and air under the fronts . G70 Firestones.

While the 427 is being built.I plan on testing the car with a NOT legal 468 that makes 790hp, just to get the handle of running on smaller tires. With 28 12.5 et streets ,leaf springs and no traction bars, with the 468 and a fogger and plate off the line ,it has 60 ft in the 1.30's. What could I expect out of an F70 14 for a 60 ft time. Im not sure what class as of yet, maybe both.

Terry normally got 1.7-1.8 60 foots with G70x14's (F.A.S.T. class). The day this video was taken the track was really slipery so he put a pair of slicks to try to salvage the trip to St. Louis.

Your 60 foot will depend a lot on what body you use and if you have a pure stocker or a F.A.S.T. car. Remember, a tenth on the starting line is 2 tenths or more on the other end.....

I can run G70 14s? Do they have to be same front and rear? IE: F70 ft G70 rear? Does that differ from pure stock to FAST?

G70 is the largest in F.A.S.T., unless the car could have come with larger tires originally, and

If you run PSMCDR pure stock.....

Tires & Wheels: Reproduction tires or radial tires only. No soft compound tires of any kind allowed. Retread tires are not allowed. Use of traction compounds or rubber-softening chemicals on tires are strictly prohibited. Tire size must approximate what was originally installed on the car. All four tires must be the same size. No 60-series tires will be allowed unless they were originally available for the car's year and model. 60-series tires must be run on 15-inch rims as they were originally. Cars built before the introduction of 70-series Polyglas or Wide-Ovals are allowed to upgrade to 70-series tires of appropriate size for the car. Please call for clarification. Suspicious tires will be durometered. Factory wheels only. Wheels must be correct in size, offset, and style for the car's make, model, and year. All four wheels must be the same size and offset.

I've gone a 1.85 in our Pure Stock Y-Camaro...but it's a pig, though, at 3700+ pounds...I believe COPO Pete has gone high-1.7s in his COPO Camaro? Like John mentioned above, Terry has bettered that in his FAST Camaro, and waaaaay bettered that in his FAST 'Vette!

And you gotta run the same size front/rear tire regardless of which class you decide on. Let us know how the test outing goes...

BTW: you'll have to stick with the 400thm if you wanna run in Pure Stock.

From what I am figuring out, I think I will set the Camaro up to be F.A.S.T. legal. The 10 second club is a good goal to shoot for.
