His wife, Barbara, used to take some Polaroids to publish in the weekly results handout at Delmar, but they were never of the quality of these photos. Dave Bishop was big into race photography then and was living in NC so I was at a loss as to who could have taken them. Glad to see them shared. |

The Black Label '56 Nomad is still owned by Sonny Johnson and has recently been restored. I haven't seen it, but I should as Sonny lives about ten miles from me. He got used to run a 288 cu. in. engine and wound the hell out of it. After about ten years he got tired of breaking 4 speeds so I sold him, and installed, a Powerglide with 8' converter. The car ran damn near the same and nothing broke.
