[ QUOTE ]
Dru asked me to post this for all to enjoy. ![]() [/ QUOTE ] Forget the the Vehicles,,, There are appx over 10,000hp on the point of that TRAIN! Awesome SD-45's (EMD-GM units) 645 Cu/in per Cylinder 16 cyl Monsters = Maintenance hogs!! Talk about grunt ![]() Hustle Muscle was a special unit manufactured for the 'Great Northern', the side of unit was painted as such. The Detroit auto makers were not the only Horse power war in town. GE, EMD, Alco etc were duking it out in the race to put the most HP in a given locomotive. To say the least bigger is not better when it comes to tractive effort. Many SD45's were later de-rated from 3,600hp to the maintenace friendly 3,000 hp 12 cyl version,,,,he, he, out with the L72 and in with the L35 These are very neat pictures Kind of like Al Bundy in the 80's for Me "Hooters & Chocolate!" ![]() Jim
