Without the black out...it looks too plain

Although I'm a big fan of the Black tail panel, on this particular car I like it as-is.

I say no. It really comes down to you personal choice. It is easy to change and easy to change back.

FWIW - back in the day, I had a White/Black 66 SS and I painted the panel black plus took off the emblems. I wasn't the first to do this but I loved the clean black look! Matched the interior, too. Sort of went with the 67 look.
