![]() ![]() ![]() Gosh Tim, as you are aware this one has had quite the story....the biggest challenge was dealing with the amateur restoration done 25 years ago. If it wasn't such a rare car with the critical components in place I would have cut it loose long ago. |

This time 59 years ago this Cameo Ivory on Red ‘66 GTO rolled out of the Fremont plant in California.
I’ve owned it for 34 years. It’s amazing this rare car (3x2 / Auto) still retains everything it was built with. Original paint, interior and factory powertrain. Of the 1759 “YR” built this year most have been altered to a 4 speed and mechanical linkage. It was a common practice in the late 60’s to toss all that complicated Vacuum linkage that came on these cars. Not only complex, but extremely dangerous to the unexperienced. I know firsthand. He doesn’t get out much so allow me to share.

Looking great, as usual Bill! I need to stop by and check this beauty out next time I'm in Waterloo. My LS5 was built on this day in 1970 at the Lakewood plant in Atlanta so we share a birthday.

Bill W,
What wire/cable is running under the “cover” on the RH side of your Malibu? Also was that cover galvanized or black paint originally? My ‘65 GTO came with the optional rear power antenna, plus a rear seat speaker. All the wiring (antenna coaxial, black/white power wires, plus the blue wire for the speaker) run under that protective cover. I have a spare electric (switch, wiring, cover) assembly.

Beautiful '70 Chad! Let me know when you are up this way.
Chris, I should have known you'd be the one to call me out on that cover! ![]() This car was, ahem, "restored" ![]() On this one it's a rear antenna coaxial only. The Maroon convert has wiring for rear speaker and power top ran through that cover. |

I really enjoy seeing your collection of Chevrolets, restored and survivors. PS, I have a fondness for the White on Red long top.

My cars birthday is today. Not sure why I can remember that and forget family members. Owned for 25 years.
