Wow. Nothing lasts forever, huh? Pretty sad to look at. I have to say that in this case it was junk once and it's junk again. I've never seen so many convertibles rusted in half in one place!

Oh man, I want that burgundy Z, and that blue mid-70's Camaro looks just like my first car, but that 68 is just beautiful. Such a waste if it's just rotting away there.

Hey guys -- saw a link to this thread from the Team Chevelle forums. All I can say is "Wow." I've always been fascinated by photos like these.

Anyway, just thought I'd post some pics of my find from a couple years ago. This is a highly-optioned, triple black, 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo SS454. You can see it was a Vigilite optioned car as well. Approximately 3800 SS's were made that year. Car was in real rough shape when I got her, with no engine or trans. The pics don't show just how bad the rust was, and it had been hit in the rear, driver's side at one point. I found 2 build sheets the first day I had her. Did a frame off restoration, dropped in a built 502, new TH-400, and lots of NOS parts. Had to quit the project for family reasons at about 90% completion, but my buddy bought the car and finished it better than I ever could have. Below are the before and after pics. Some of them do get saved!!

Welcome to the site Nate. Do you have any pictures of the in progress restoration of the Monte?

What is the story on the triple white SS454? Perhaps an LS-6?
