![]() Wow. Nothing lasts forever, huh? Pretty sad to look at. I have to say that in this case it was junk once and it's junk again. I've never seen so many convertibles rusted in half in one place! |

Oh man, I want that burgundy Z, and that blue mid-70's Camaro looks just like my first car, but that 68 is just beautiful. Such a waste if it's just rotting away there.

Hey guys -- saw a link to this thread from the Team Chevelle forums. All I can say is "Wow." I've always been fascinated by photos like these.
Anyway, just thought I'd post some pics of my find from a couple years ago. This is a highly-optioned, triple black, 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo SS454. You can see it was a Vigilite optioned car as well. Approximately 3800 SS's were made that year. Car was in real rough shape when I got her, with no engine or trans. The pics don't show just how bad the rust was, and it had been hit in the rear, driver's side at one point. I found 2 build sheets the first day I had her. Did a frame off restoration, dropped in a built 502, new TH-400, and lots of NOS parts. Had to quit the project for family reasons at about 90% completion, but my buddy bought the car and finished it better than I ever could have. Below are the before and after pics. Some of them do get saved!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Welcome to the site Nate. Do you have any pictures of the in progress restoration of the Monte?
What is the story on the triple white SS454? Perhaps an LS-6?
