40k is closer to the number... he gave 15-16k for it (I know is irrevelant) [/ QUOTE ] Wow, I'll say it's irrelevant. Since we're spouting off numbers related to other people's purchases, how much did you pay for the black one you're asking 90k for?

HE CAN ASK WHATEVER HIS HEART DESIRES. IT TAKES ALOT A NERVE FOR SOMEONE TO SPOUT OFF WHAT THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR ON AN OPEN FORUM WHEN IT IS OF NO CONCERN TO THEM.I HEAR OF SCENARIOS LIKE THIS DAY IN AND DAY OUT AND IT JUST TURNS MY STOMACH. THIS IS COMING FROM A GUY THAT WANTS $90K FOR A BLACK Z/28 WITH A CE MOTOR RIGHT ??? ![]()

I knew I was going to get ripped on that one... I said it is irrelevant... the black car was alot more than 15-16k... and the numbers given at that time were a value of approx 50k as is... no work done. There was more than 15k in work and parts collected to put the black car to where it is.
Granted this car does have the original engine and paperwork... but from what I saw it looks as though there are holes rusted through the fenders... so I said a number of 40k as is... maybe a little more. That is not a number I would be willing to pay seeing as the car is going to need a complete exterior resto... (bare minimum) can't see the car being worth more than 80-90k restored. If the rust damage is not as extensive as I would imagine it is... then maybe the car is worth $50k. Who cares if the previous purchase price is "spouted out" the money is always made on the buy side and just because someone knows what was paid for the car does not make the car or (any car for that matter) worth any less. He bought the car below market, he was happy and the seller was happy, that's the best deal when both parties walk away happy. |

If Rob gets 60K for it, good on him but if he sticks to that price, he will be in the same game as James (still waiting). Ultimately the market lets everyone know what everything is worth. I believe if Charley still has his L89 for sale at 150K and Colin still has the rare wing car available, there will not be a line up at 60K for this car anytime soon.

THERE IS ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO THESE KINDS OF STORIES. YES THE BUYER DID USE THE SITE FOR INFO THAT I AM SURE HELPED HIM MAKE THE BEST DEAL HE COULD. BUT LETS BE TRUE HERE SOME OF US ARE IN THE HOBBY TO MAKE MONEY AND SOME FOR OTHER REASONS. LET BE GLAD THAT A REAL 69 Z28 WILL HOPEFULLY MAKE IT WAY BACK ON THE ROAD FOR ALL OF US TO SEE. LIKE FIRST GEN SAID IF ALL PARTIES WHERE HAPPY WITH THE DEAL THEN SO BE IT. IF THE GUY TOOK ADVATAGE OF THE FRAMER THEN MAYBE WHAT GOES AROUND WILL COME AROUND SOME DAY

Exactly... the seller of the black car doesn't need the money and would rather have the car than the 85k that has been offered... it will either be the same case with the silver car or if he truly wants to sell it... market prices will prevail. I for one would like to know what the REAL market is (for a barn find like the silver car) between 2 knowledgeable parties.

[/ QUOTE ] I think you were way out of line by telling what was paid for a car that you have nothing to do with. I like the way you skirted around what was paid for the black car. You don't mind telling what others pay when trying to sell. Why not tell what was paid for the one you are trying to sell? JMO, James
