Uh.. OK, you guys are talking about this car from the cover of MCR and posted about in SYC Members in Print on the third page?
I just let my Super Chevy mag subscription run out, since it wasn't doing much for me any more and I mainly hunt and pic for good car mags at the stores anyway. That car and story were neat, but it's all crap? Maybe I should dump HR and wait for you guys to screen the others mags every month before I even look at them. Great, Now I'm having flashbacks of '75 Z28s for sale in the swapsheet and a could have been movie about a Shelby Nova! ![]() |

I dont want everyone to think its all crap! The car is a real 3600 mile car. Its just not as unrestored as it lets you think. I took the whole car apart and replaced or restored all the pieces to make it correct. The strickler -jenkins thing is another story. I dont belive any of that is true.

okay...is there a link anywhere to the MCR article or can anyone scan and post it.
I know Harry Lutz and remember the car...never quite understood him selling it ![]() I think his wife races a 20-30k mile 73 Z now, unless he's sold it too. Great car!

After hearing this fabrication it does not take away from the car, it takes away from MCR! [/ QUOTE ] Mossport Muscle Car Review does not own these cars and make up the stories, the current owners give them the info. Moderators, this subject HAS to be gotten to the bottom of. Maybe so we don't RUIN George Lyons GOOD thread we can move the posts associated to this mess to a new thread. I am sure that this topic is going to get legnthy.

Yeah, good point. -Move all of this talk to it's own thread.
Well, that Z is a great car and probably does run like stink as we're told. So, it really is a low mile car that needed..what? -a few soft parts, correct details, clean-up and detailed throughout? More? As said above, how did this told history get in the mix and what is the cars background? Was it just a nice car that was locked-up for a long time or an early modified runner or...? Paul |

So the 60K question is where did the strickler -jenkins story come from ? [/ QUOTE ] Charley, that story came directly from the original owner in a phone interview with Geoff Stunkard. So s far as the article goes it is all true. The car still sported its original paint, interior, and trunk but the engine compartment and under carriage had been cleaned and detailed. That still did not detract from the original low miles and how neat of a car it is. [ QUOTE ] You have got to be $hittin me! That story was all a load of BS? Are the people that spin these storys that stupid as to think there lies will never catch up with them? I am SOOOOOO tired of the LIARS in this hobby! [/ QUOTE ] Frank, there are a lot of liars and scam artists out there but you do not know the story behind this car. It is only hearsay. Nobody "spun" the story around to make it sound better or to increase the value of the car. Are you willing to tell the original owner who spoke to the author of the article that he is a liar? If so, can you substantiate that claim other than what Don states? Everyone now knows that Don did not sell an unrestored 70-1/2 Z28, and neither did the next guy. But for all intents and purposes the car has an unrestored interior, paint, (other than some resprayed lower 1/4's and why would you do that on a car that only has 3600 miles, maybe burnout "rash" from drag racing?), and original unrestored trunk. I do not know what the previous owner told the current owner when it was sold but if he relayed the same information as to what was in the article then to me the lies stopped at that point. I know I haven't kept anything secret as to what has been done to the car. Hell the article even mentioned that we got caught in a down pour! I couldn't hide that from Pat ![]() I agree that this topic from Mikes post on needs to be moved as it could get longer, maybe.......RatPack....... |
