My second 69 Camaro that I ran in Super Stock beginning in late 1976 I ran as a SS/H (396-325HP). Unfortunately, I don't remember any of your car's former owners. I ran the car a little bit on the east coast, but not a lot. I also ran it as a 396-375 HP in SS/FA with cast iron heads and SS/EA with the original aluminum closed chamber heads (I still have one here, somewhere) and then in 1985 moved it up to SS/DA 427-425 HP and set the record in Englishtown in May of 1986. Good Times for sure. Do you still have the car? GM </div></div> I have a SS/JA car last run in 1976 from Middle of PA. Was a 327 combo. It was cut to be tubbed and never finished. Now needs restored.

FYI, If someone here can find the thread about the 69 ebay z28 with orange z stripes that was actually a 69 yenko camaro. I know people where scrambling and the seller did not know it was a yenko, someone tried making a deal after the auction ended. The seller was a stand up guy and still sold it to the auction winner for the bid price. The car went somewhere in Illinois. And i think brian henderson might remember something about this car/auction. Roger

Gary-
Randy Bentley from the Salem area had a '69 Yenko Camaro that he turned into a bracket car in the mid-to-late 80's. I was told he didn't know it was a Yenko car until much later, possibly after he sold it? It was also supposedly a Marv Minneman car. That's all the more I know. Just a thought--- |

This is the car I mentioned in my post. The car ended up getting back-halved not long after this.

Thanks to all for the kind comments.
It has been a GREAT run that started with the Yenko and I am still playing with cars. As Jeff Boone mentioned I currently have an NHRA stocker which just happens to look like a Baldwin MOTION Camaro (have to spread the love). My stories, are all true to the best of my recollection, were just the beginning of my affection with cars and are the highlights of some of the best times. Just so there are no misconceptions and I apologize if I gave the wrong impression because I did not mean to. When I sent my original message to Charlie, I just wanted to update the registry regarding my original Yenko, regarding where it was purchased and which transmission it had. The stories were just fun for me and I hope for all of you to enjoy as a young kid talking about all the fun he had back in the day. Unfortunately, I am in not in a financial position to re-buy this car if in fact it was found. After putting two children through college and retiring from the General before I wanted to, there is no way I could afford an original car such as this one. If and when it is found, I wish the new owner all the best and if they would want to have not only the car, but the original price label, I would be more than willing to discuss it. Thanks again, Gary Merrick |
