Just installed a new security system for the shop...it is manufactured by Smith and Wesson....works great...hasn't missed yet

If it's a later model made in China.......chances are it won't work.............Besides, Those Nu Yawk cars drive with an Accent

.........So bringing one back home to the Midwest would be kind of hard.....Even in Roodhouse.....LOL

Tom, the self threaded bolt looks correct for the negative cable. I believe they had the anchor on the head of them. I have also seen the negative cable bolted to the motor, pass. side. The assembly manual shows both ways but I think technically it bolts down on the motor for the big block. Also it should have the "U" shaped holder/bracket for the two heater hoses that bolts to the alt. bracket...

Car looks great!! Good luck at the NATS!! I would like to get my car there someday..

Rich, here is a photo showing the clamp...69 engine pic...i thought the 68-69 BBcars ahd the neg cable going to the block and the 70 went to the alternator bracket...

Tom, I would have to double check the assembly manual. I remember there were pictures showing it both ways. Mine(70 car) is bolted to the alt. bracket just like you have yours. I don't have the assembly manual handy it is out in the garage. Tomorrow I can double check it. I'll bet Marlin knows for sure... Seems to me your right and I'm sure if I bolted mine to the alt. bracket I must have done so according to the assembly manual becuase I know I had it out when I was putting the alternator and my smog assembly back on the car..

Tom, on page #306 of the 1970 Nova assembly manual it shows the negative battery cable ground being bolted to the passengers side front of the block rather than to the alt. bracket. This shows it for the V8 396 engines.. But on page #307 it shows this cable being bolted to the alt. bracket also for the v8 396 motors. Like I said I remembered it being shown both ways. I have seen it both ways on restored cars.. I guess either way is correct..

Look on the bottom of those pages for a revision date & notation Rich..
1970 Chevelle Big Blocks batteries started off being grounded at the block up until 10/31/69,then afterwards they received a special bolt/washer & cable to be attached at the upper Alt.Bkt.from then on.
Most of the 1970 BB vehicles got the new 1970 design upper Alt.Bkt. with the 3rd hole to accept this,but the assemblers continued to ground the Batts at the block,even though the Bkt. hole was there waiting for it.It took awhile for workers to understand it was now more time/cost effective & safer to start grounding these there.
