As we drove into Waterloo, IA there was a 'gas war' going on. There were three gas stations at one intersection priced at 18 cents, 17 cents and 16 cents per gallon. We had just tanked up in the previous town at something like 28 cents. I recall at the time wishing we could buy a trailer, cheap, and haul some of that 16 cent fuel with us for the remainder of the trip. Oh, for those prices again. Maybe in my afterlife.
