Mbird, the car is sitting 30 feet from me, and dangit I don't own a scanner, soooooo lemme see if I can find a way to scan some of the magazine and NHRA pic's and doc's I have. I have all original literature, NHRA doc's and articles. It's a red/white top/black guts '72 GS campaigned by Bill Trevor/Buick and driven by Dave Bensisek in 1971-1972, then sold to Pop Kennedy of Kenne-Bell fame for awhile, and onwards from there. Held the Pure Stock, Stock and C/SA records in 71-72-73. I have had it for 11 years now myself. It was hidden for about 17 years, on and off... I know, I know, it's just a Buick, but it was badass in it's day, still is actually. I've gone 9.95@136, thru the tailpipes, on motor, full interior, EVERY option but A/C.... it's a neat car, maybe not a Supercar, but no slouch either...

[ QUOTE ] The car did well at BJ because it is the most famous LS6 Chevelle in NHRA History. ![]() [/ QUOTE ] Kevin, Do you think it was the most famous LS-6 convert or all around most famous LS-6. I always thought Red Alert was more famous (at least in name and not necessarily credits). ![]() Rick [/ QUOTE ] I don't think "Red Alert" ran NHRA back then. Correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't he run AHRA or IHRA? Where's (olredalert) when we need the facts. Pageing Bill S. come in Bill.

[ QUOTE ]
This car was originally purchased by famous drag racer Bob Hamilton as a gift for his wife. In time, he transformed it into the Red Alert. The beast is the former World Record Holder in SS/DA. The car is now owned and campaigned by the partnership of Terry Carney and Bill Stephenson. Bill also drives the Chevelle, beginning each pass with the unique twisting wheelstand that the car is known for. This was the best selling AMT plastic model ever, and is now available from Ertl in a die cast version. Terry and Bill have decided it is now time to pass the torch to a new owner. ![]() [/ QUOTE ]

The pics of Bob Hamilton's racing jacket have IHRA and NHRA member patches on the sleeve. Still waiting for Bill S. (olredalert) to reply.

"The article you picked up on stage was titled "Big Noise From Piscataway" from May 71 Car Craft. I sent it to Chip as part of the literature that was displayed with the car. Believe it or not that article reads like a recipe to build your very own Briggs Chevelle. You woundn't think a World Champion Team would tell the world all those details while the car was still in competition . "
It's kind of like U.S. military aircraft vs. equally or in some instances better built aircraft made elsewhere.....its all about the aviators and their world class training! ![]()
