Tim,that's true,although DMV usually denies the request because of the sequence(they are hip to it. They are extremely popular-I've even seen people paint their seven digit blue and white base plates black and yellow,really adds the final touch for that period correct and they look great with any body color.Finding an original Cali muscle or pony car that still has it's o.g. black plates currently registered is money in the bank!. If the person who buys this Impala lives in CA. they will have trouble keeping those tags as the reg looks to have expired in the 70's.I have a friend who paid eight years of back fees just to keep her 69 olds black plates after it had "rested" for a few years.
