Rob asked me about this car, so here are my thoughts:
If I were looking at it, I'd be asking the guy why it has 69 and up doors on it. The 68 had the grab handle like the the ones on the car, but the were only grab handles, the door locks were buttons that were pressed to unlatch the doors..... very noticable difference http://68intel.vettepics.com/cgi-bin/i/hel-v-sida.jpg And as far as I know the tilt-tele wheel was for 69 and up as well....they only offered tele in '68 and there was no ignition swith in that column, it should be on the dash if this car is a '68. other things I noticed: The blank retangular area on the console above the 'nitrous' button should house the fiber optics center. http://www.corvettetraderonline.com/...ale/l0027.html this pic shows where the key should be, and the fiber optics. Joel may have verified the vin and some of mods, but it would appear to me that this car has some 'splaining to do. Here it is for sale at Mecum http://www.mecumauction.com/auctions...D=SC0505-25042 But it did sell at BJ http://www.barrett-jackson.com/aucti....asp?id=181291 for $102,000 oh, and they answer the question about the doors Believed to be only documented Roadster by Joel Rosen. Documentation included letter from Joel Rosen, and tank sticker. New base coat, clear coat paint, tires, complete brake rebuild, suspension rebuild, upgraded with an L-88 rebuilt, new Hooker supercomp headers, and sidepipes. Rims and gas cap polished. Engine was purchased from Yenko Chevrolet, NOH. Engine also was rebuilt early on by the late D.A. Santucci, of Drag Racing fame, and his name is stamped on block pad. Has a M-21 4-speed transmission. Also has auxilary hard top painted to match, and White Ragtop. Doors and interior apppear to be from a 1969 Corvette, but were not changed during restoration. They may have been part of the conversion, therefore were not changed. Runs hard!! Motion items include: fender flares, gas cap, steering wheel, rims, fender gills, Motion emblems, valve covers, air cleaner, etc. Soon to be featured in numerous national magazines. "TITLE IN TRANSIT"

With the late door mirrors I think those would have to be 76 to 79 doors. Motion used a Ford Torino sport mirror on all the Phase III cars.
I sure do like that color of Blue. Pantera

-------68 back-up lights are also gone.
-------Look closely at the mirrors, Pantera, as they dont appear to be the later Corvette mirrors either. There is a crease in the middle of them. They sort of look a bit like 1970 442 mirrors...........Bill S |

Consider that the gold GT went for $225 at BJ and it's documented and fully restored and he wants $250!!! it seems a little much. When he first put this car up for sale months ago he wanted $175. I wonder if it has changed hands or is still owned by the same guy.

Good point, Canuckle...according to the auction, this car had an "October 2004 appraised value $250,000", yet was a no sale at $175k several months ago, and it didn't reach the $100k mark at BJ-Palm Beach in April, and now it carries a $250k buy it now?

Gee I think if the Gold vette had gone across the block a little earlier in the evening, it just might have brought at least a full 1/3 to double more than it did. After the 3 million dollar Olds sold everything seemed to stall or was overlooked by the bidders. I know that there were two or three bidders that were at dinner and missed getting to bid on the Gold Motion car. One was a famous wrestler from Okla.
This blue car is one nice looking piece. What few parts it has on it, that are not what some of us may think it should have, don't really hurt the value that much. Joels cars are all different from each other. That was the main selling point for his cars. You could get it your way. The main selling point of this car, is that he (Joel) had something to do with it. Only time will tell if someone will reconize any of these cars from way back when, or we come across old pic from the past to help document these cars, where we can acutally see what they looked like back then. As for this '68, I think someone will wind up owning it soon. That is a rare piece of history and one fine looking one at that. If I had the money it would be parked in my garage right now. But then I was always a sucker for a blue vette. The white stripe just makes it that much better. IMHO. What it sells for is just a matter of who and how bad they want to own it. The Camaro that goes with it sure looks good to me. I am sure they are open to a good offer. Dave Belk was the owner and I think he sold it so each person that now owns it will try to make a buck off it, if they can. That is the american way. More power to them if they do. Personally, I can't wait till they reach a Million dollars each. He.. He... He.... Pantera
