I agree, it's a "bonus" if you get more than what you believe you'd be happy with. Set the price where you want and be happy! There really is no such thing as "top dollar" anyway - what if I'd have advertised it there, what if I'd have waited a little longer to sell, what if.........

i agree with 12-bolt's first comment, i have purchased many cars well below asking price. go check out the car, tell them you really like it but do not have the funds and leave your phone #. you never know what is motivating the sale. most memorable was a 78 trans am asking price 4500 firm, i checked out the car, called back next day and told him i couldnt get a loan, when he asked how much i could come up with i only had $1200 cash so a couple of days later he calls back and we strike a deal for $1200 and a .357. i had the $ but just wasnt interested in the car @ $4500. point being, leave your # and let ehm know how much your willing to spend without being insulting.

Could it have been the .357 you were carrying that persuaded him to take an "offer he couldn't refuse?"

Nice catch on that Trans Am either way!

no no, he asked if i had any thing else to throw in on the deal. i had taken the .357 and a shotgun in on trade myself for some cylinder heads. i didnt have a handgun permit @ the time so it just worked out. drove the t/a for a couple of months and was offered $4000 for it (1992)sounded good. really a sharp car though silver with black fire chicken hood black interior, very strong pontiac 400 and seemed like a 4.11 gear, shift kit from hell also. theres plenty more stories, never seemed to keep a car more than 6 months then, always made $.
