Mark,
Your two 70 Novas are consistent with the yenko deuces, which all have the ZJ3 option. Allen, Your '70 has the chrome on the speedo surround? My '69 SS with buckets, custom interior, ZJ3, but no guages, only has the chrome on the bottom sides!

I will check my original dash bezel on my 70 L78 with deluxe bench interior,as I have it to have it sent out to be done. Sully

Allen, it's a little suprising to me also but it's never been out and this car also has the Nova on the door panels. The second owner has pics of the car when it is 5 months old and it has the wood insert on the wheel. Who knows what the line workers at Willow Run were doing the night before they built this car ?

The woodgrain on the steering wheel horn pad isn't seen very often either.... and I can't figure out any rhyme or reason as to when it was used. There is an L78 in NY with a standard green cloth bench seat interior, but it has the woodgrain horn shroud.

Went to the shop this morning to check for chrome. 69 car has chrome left and right of speedo area, lower left and around radio. 70 has the same plus chrome around speedo and around the whole outside. Hope this helps, I'll try to take some digital photos. Wilma

I find this Topic very interesting and appreciate all of you guys sharing your findings with us.I am doing the same with the Chevelle dashes.
Just a few questions: *Are you seeing the 1971 & up Novas Dashes also being done this way too? *Is the plating on these dashes actual Chrome,Vacuum metalizied Aluminum,or applied with a Paint pen? Rick |

This is a pic of a 9000 mile 1972 ss with tac and guages. It has the chrome around the speedo and outside edge. It's all starting to come together now..... m

Here are the three styles of Bezels we are discussing. I labeled them based on what I think the intented use is. The Deuces might be an exception. Let me know if your car is an exception to this.
The pictures in the files are not really helping. I will add this to the research project list. Standard Bright around the bottom controls Special Interior Bright around the bottom controls and vent opening or block off and heater/AC contols. Custom Interior Bright around the bottom controls; vent opening or block off and heater/AC contols; and around Speedo and sides and top edge. ![]()

Good pictures Gregg. Do we have a consensus on which is what? It appears that we have a cross up between years and options! I don't think the Deuces are an exception, they have the ZJ3 option and some of the additional brightwork, just nothing around the speedo and perimeter.

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY;
No enough information yet. The pictures in my files are mostly worthless because you cannot see the detail well enough to prove one way or the other. I created the following research topic and will add this to my Nova Survey form to start gathering good information. I think that the ZJ3 option did not get the speedometer brightwork. I am going to work it from that position and try to prove it wrong. Research Topic: 1969 -1972 Dash Bezels
