Laughing my ars off.....love you guys but siting ambient temps 55 years back is a sickness but a good one.
Really don't think any temp variance would effect something that chevy was in the habit of qc, the finish and it's consistency.

Black car no vinyl top, black interior gets red stripes

Not quite Lee. It seems early built cars came with white stripes and later built received red stripes. Not sure of the switch over.

At the 1969 MY intro, black was an RPO color for a short time, then dropped. There were few early production black cars.

A famous early production black car [10 B 711] was the L78/auto SS owned by Joe Oldham. It was featured prominently in Baldwin-Motion ads and a few articles in pulp car mags back in the day. He wanted to delete the D90 stripe and Chevrolet refused to do it; early photos show it was built with a white D90. Shortly thereafter, he had the D90 stripe removed.

January 1969, black was added as an extra-cost color. Maybe at that time the default D90 color was changed to red.
