The Echlin Bros founded Accel ignition in the 70's. So far I can't find any definitive year, but as others have said, I saw them on cars in the early 70's.


Echlin remedied its neglect of high-performance ignition systems with a program started in the 1970s. Racing quality ignition parts were marketed under the brand name ACCEL which, despite fierce competition, soon became the leading name in its field.

I was just considering options when I revisit the L88 in the HM 68

If you like the color and appearance, they would be a good fit, even if they MAY have been replaced a few years after the build...
