I'm also thinking the 6-cyl VIN was swapped onto the 4K body, especially considering there's an original looking BB heater core installed in the car. I'd love to pull the cowl and confirm the partial VIN.

I think the tag is good, but in this situation, that's pretty meaningless.

I agree with Kurt based on this pic. I received a pic of the tag yesterday on my iphone and it was distorted to the point that the "O" in body looked almost round rather than oval. Much like the early repop tags.

VIN: 123377N213683 which would have been built 04D.

@Scuncio, big can of worms with this car right, something tag wise is off. If the hidden vin matches the trim tag, then the VIN on the dash is another car. Sounds messy. Is the car for sale cheap?

Why bother swapping a trim/vin tag off a "dead" car ??
Why not ?? Trying to use reason as to why someone did this is like trying to find the 201st 1965 Chevelle SS 396... It doesn't need to make sense to us, or anyone, but the person who did this.
But they certainly left a bewildering puzzle for people to try to make sense of...

Maybe the 4k car was wrecked badly so when they repaired it, they grafted the a-pillar/door post off the 6 cyl car?

All conjecture as we do not have enough info or pics.
