Those headlight covers need attention.
VIN 124379N630717

I have seen pics of stampings although the pics are not clear enough to validate much

I can barely make out the engine stamp is V0418DZ, rear is BU0407G2.
Trans looks like P9C?0A with a VIN of 19W3?????

Would be nice to have better straight on pics.

I made a mistake on the engine pad and rear and defer to Kurt on the stampings.

I thought the pad looked good from other stamps I have.

Engine is a restamp.
Axle looks restamped too. That should be a gang holder stamp.

Nobody should buy an "RS" Z28 unless it has GM of Canada documentation of originally being an RS or MacNeish inspection verifying an original RS option. Period.

That is a tall order. One may never own one!
I bought mine and never did the above. Just a good inspection and I have a nice RS Z.
I would be very careful trusting what McNeish says. I owned a car once he inspected after I owned it, and he said in his report that it was an all original body panel car with one repaint. I had the car repainted, and both quarters and fenders were replaced.

Relying only on a document Canadian or otherwise which represents how a car was build/configured 50 years ago is not adviseable.

Many cars have been rebody/ faked based on documentation. Don't get me wrong its great to have but its only one piece of the puzzle . Ownership history and physical inspection are also critical to confirm cars pedigree.

There's a wealth of information out there and many member on this site as well as others can help and may be able to perform an inspection.

Painted engine, pad blurry pics, lack of documention and history are red flags ....

Aside from the front end height, this one looked good at first glance, but like an onion...you just peel away the layers until you see what you really have. It's always suspect when you see a listing w/o proper pics of the stamps and a lack of documentation. That and the fact that the bidders are shielded should raise an immediate flag.

Some great detective work on this one.

Agree, all a Canadian Doc does is verify the VIN,nothing more.
Early on,so many put a huge importance on a Canadian documented vehicle, that they stopped right there & didn't investigate any further, only to realize that someone can switch a VIN between two cars.
