65 El Camino project opinions

Allow me to share my opinion on this one...

Since I am just finishing a 1966 El Camino project maybe this will help. What you described looks very cool and has lots of potential, depending on your time, resources and goals in the end. It could be a fun project and a very nice driver when you are done.

Coincidentally, I just posted some info on my restoration on SYC (look at the going to auction post), since I'm thinking about selling in the near future. Bear in mind that my car started out as a running and driving complete low mileage rust free stock 396 truck before I tore it apart.

I now have way too many hours and years invested in this effort, and probably close to $50k at this point in time. Even though it's a very nice vehicle, my guess is it will be tough for me to get $30k for it.

If I did the same exact work on a matching Chevelle, I could probably make a profit. Unfortunately El Caminos typically don't bring the high dollars.

So basically, if you love El Caminos and can get it for a reasonable price, then by all means snap it up and have some fun. If you are thinking about profit, then there may be more profit in parting it out to the Chevelle gang.
