Ryan, I can't remember if your car came with a blowproof or stock bellhousing? If it didn't, and you're planning to go racing, get one that is appropriate. A lot of improvement has been made in the clutch area over the years compared to how those cars were raced back then. I had a bad experience with Center Force, but I'm sure others will speak highly of them. Do your homework and research and seek opinions before you pull the trigger on purchase and installation. Also, see what your trans. guy thinks about changing the 1st gear ratio. I think your M20 should have 2.52; if it doesn't, see if your guy can make sure that it does or maybe even something a bit steeper when he does the rebuild. That car is heavy and the lower (higher numerically) gear ratio will help get the mass moving.

Thanks Dave.
I am researching this item thoroughly, and want a really fun street clutch with the ability to drag race occasionally. So far 10 spline Hays Street/Strip is the one most recommended but 10.5 or 11 inch is still up in the air. The stock bell housing is on the engine right now, but I agree that rotating mechanical mass is a hazard. ![]() I will get one for the PSMCDR drivetrain for sure. USED would be fine with me, I won't have to certify the car and there is not even a requirement to have the SFI approved scatter shield bell housing in pure stock. "Manual Transmissions The transmission must be correct for year, make, model and engine of the car. 3-speed manuals may be upgraded to the correct 4-speed if originally available. Aftermarket H-pattern shifters are allowed if no modifications to the floorpan are necessary. Line locks are not allowed. Scattershields are okay. No conversions from column-shift to floor shift allowed unless available as a factory option. Aluminum flywheels are NOT allowed." If anyone has a USED one similar to this one for sale at Summit send me a PM. http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/la...ype/muncie-m-21 Ryan PS: Noticed this rule that I might as well prepare for as well From the PSMCDR Website....."Driveshaft safety loops are mandatory on all cars 13.99 and faster! I like the style that doesn't require holes to be drilled in the floor:-)

Note from Nick.
"Your trans has the 2.56 ratio. Nick Gear Tooth Count Gear Cluster Ratio First 36 17 2.56 Second 30 19 1.91 Third 27 22 1.48 Fourth 24 29 1.00 Should be very good on the street:-) Ryan

Without the support of all my friends here on yenko.net and 2doorpost.com I would have never even considered buying my W-31 Post Car!!
At the end of this chassis restoration I will be a self proclaimed amateur, right now this is all 100% uncharted territory for me. I am car crazy for sure but have done very little work on cars This is why sometimes (often) I post seemingly ridiculous details about things I am sure you all know very well..........but for example.........who would think a scattershield wouldn't fit with stock pipes, starter, brackets, etc, etc? In my hobby as well as at work experience is key, and I appreciate everyone that jumps in and shares their experiences. (Obviously I can't follow everyone's path, I have to chose only one path for each item) Big Thank You!! Ryan PS: Tonight or tomorrow I will visit Sam (W-Machine guy here in Ontario) to buy a few parts share some stories and take a few pictures of details on his survivor 1969 442 W-30, 4 speed, Holiday Coupe, Glade Green, Black top, gold/tan interior The clutch linkage, as mine is all "funcky", and I also want to see if it has (boxed rear control arms, a sway bar,) and frame tie bars? (Inline tube sells them for $65.00 US/$87.00 CAD) online.flipbuilder.com/wmmk/nfjp/ Ryan

![]() Thanks for the offer, please PM a price but I feel it best to let this item sit for now and get the stock set up going before jumping into this Day 2 item. If super reasonable of course I would buy it for future. Ryan

I know you have your eye set on a few engine builders, but I recommend you at least consider/talk to BTR Performance in Rochester, NY. I didn't realize how close you are to his shop, and Bill is definitely a top notch Olds engine builder, having raced Olds engines for many years. He's also typically backlogged, so if you wanted an engine done next September, should probably at least start calling around now to get in line somewhere.
