I remember seeing this car on craigslist. Man if I knew what it really was and had the funds to restore this car back to how it should be I would have jumped all over it. Great score and I cant wait to see the finished product. I remember seeing this car a lot be cant pin point where exactly.

It was heavily street raced around Detroit, and also saw it's fair share of time at the local dragstrip.

The body rebuild process has begun.
I have a very talented bodyman that is doing the work in my shop, as I couldn't do this on my own.
Progress will be a bit slow as he can only come here on Saturdays, but he is a very persistent, so gets quite a bit done when he's here.

First step, now that the old floor is completely removed, is to rebuild where the rocker meets the floor and the hinge jam as well as the body mount boxes.

Yeah, couldn't pass up the opportunity to razz you a little

Looks like you have your work 'cut out' (pun intended) for you on the black car.....looking at the bottom of the windshield channel, I can see some more serious reconstruction is in order

Yes, the windshield channel and the part below it will need to be repaired, but I've rounded up the pieces to fix those areas. Bringin' her back from nearly dead.

Good plan, by having the work done "on site" as the work progresses you can be part of all the decisions/compromises/no compromises.

Did you find a dash?

Keep us Posted!!!

Exciting.

Ryan

Yes, the original frame is useable, but will need a new piece welded in where someone cut a chunk out for crossmember removal, and also need to cut off the added-on ladder bar adjustable mount. Rest of it looks surprisingly good, with no rot out around the body bushing areas.
Body will be coming off the frame next week, when we put the floor in.

Ryan, yes I found a good plastic dash housing, and also have the metal section of dash at the windshield area, where it meets the cowl panel.
