Well it will not be long now. looking forward to getting down there. We just had Christmas at our cottage and had a foot of snowfall. Summer like weather sounds good about now.
I have to ask , is it easy to get around on the Auction grounds . there is so much to see we do not want to miss anything. or try not to miss anything. thanks |

Very easy to move about Westworld. Plan on lots of walking, be sure to have comfy footwear.
There are a few things to be aware of. Starting Friday afternoon it really starts to get crowded. By noon Saturday the ring and the area just outside will be absolutely packed. If you are not a registered bidder you're stuck in the stands in the auction tent. You will be elbow to elbow; people constantly climbing over you to get in/out. Sit as high up as you can get and try to stay put. We did general admission for a few years and had our fill. Even sitting in the ring is a challenge Friday/Saturday. Get there early. I don't know if they still park general admission on the grounds but if they do you may be close enough to access your car. It can be cool early am and you don't want to haul a coat around for the entire day. If it has rained and the lots are flooded they will bus you in from maybe a mile away. I do miss seeing the lot attendants in parkas, shivering in the 55º weather.

Ther is good general parking at off site lots and shuttle bus transportation. The one I have used is Hayden Road at Bell. There are at least five other auctions going on the same week plus the Saturday car show at Pavillions. If you catch it all you can see 3000 plus collector cars in a five day span. BJ is one heck of a trade show as well with every vendor from model cars to the best car haulers on earth. Think of it as Disneyland for car guys, the Oscars and Manhattan at midnight NewYears with a car theme. This will be my ninth year attending and it is now a ritual.

Gonna pull the trigger and go to Barrett Jackson in '14 with my (at the time) 16-year-old car guy son. Can bunk at my uncles house in Scottsdale and won't even need a hotel room. My uncle has been after me for years to come out for BJ and stay at his place and I'm finally to the point where my son is old enough to take it all in, fi that's possible. My uncle lives on the north side of town just outside the Pima Freeway on Presido Drive. Is is practical for him to drop us off and pick us up or is it just too crazy at the venue and we would be better of driving there and parking?

If he's going to drop you off ad pick you up, that would probably be the most convenient way of transportation. If you have to park, you 'll either have a long way to walk or wait in line for a shuttle bus. Save your strength for the show.

My wife and I took in this event last year while also attending the car activities during the week. It was a good time and saw some very creative art......and spent some money which made my wife happy.
