Here is another one of a 69 Camaro that I would like to see more pictures of or find out more info on the car.

Bob Moon is local to me and the story on the car is a little vague. ie; Supposedly a Grump car, supposedly a Lemans blue 6 banger, supposedly a car that had a Lombardo 427 race built motor in it when it was in the above condition. NOT SURE ON ANY OF THAT. The reality of some are a little dusty from what they remember.

The picture of the Camaro was taking the day Bob sold his car. Picture was dated Aug. of 72.

The 33 willys is I think the Peto and Dutton car from Stowe, Pa. Was an A or B gasser at the time. The picture is early 70's?? at Maple Grove. The camaro was driven by Barry Curren when I knew the car and ran in Stock and Super Stock eliminator mainly at maple Grove. I think this is the car that was for sale about 2 years ago at the Maple Grove flea market in early Spring? I believe this car was a 325 horse 396. Don't remember if it is a Marshall or Fisher Chevrolet car.
I ran against this car with my nova and he beat me up! ![]() |

OK, then it is true that the car was an original big block? I knew the man who owned it lived on Pineland Rd. Right off of 422 wst in Exeter. The son of Gene's Autobody owned it. I was told that the car was never originally a bb car and that it was a 6 banger. I didn't know it at the time it was forsale that it was the Shangrila Camaro. I just heard the price was a little outrageous for what it was, but never knew then. I called the owner 2 yrs ago and he told me he had just sold it and wasn't revealing anything. I was respectful, but upset in the same breath. I think that car is wild. As far as the previous history of the origins of that car, not sure. My cousin talks to Bob often so I asked him tonight if I could maybe get ahold of him and talk to him about the car. I think that a local guy did the paint job! I might be in luck because some of those guys still are around here. I want to dig into this car's history a bit. From what my cuz told me, he lives like 2 min away from me. I heard that he didn't race the car too much. Kinda put too many eggs in one basket! As far as the Willys goes, I think my dad said it was in the late 60's early seventies. That was my dad's gf at the time and I think she knew the owners of the car! I could barely make out the names on the roof, but I think you are right about that. What else do you know about the Camaro? I know the guy took it back to what it was, but did it stay in this area?

It was supposedly the car for sale at the Grove back a couple years. I think it even had paper work with it. Marlin may have seen the car also. Something like 900 and some original miles.
You are making my head hurt Jed. It was way too long ago. ![]() |
