Does anybody know anything about this? I can see that it says "Cars Magazine Project", but look at what it says on the front fender. Is it a real Motion car? Where is it now?

Yep, One of Bill Mitchels projects. Was H/G and maybe I/G national holder for awhile. Very fast 10 second bug.

Once the insurance industry (with help from the government) killed Detroit muscle car production all the Motion guys could do was play with VWs. Looks like they adapted quite well with this 10-second bug.

Yes, the ThunderBug is a real Motion race car. In the same building that housed the Vettes & Camaros-- Bill Mitchel built different versions of this VW. Each year he pushed the limits of the NHRA. Each car became more radical & faster. I was there --that's my lettering in the picture.
