Is there a difference between a "truck" 427 block and a "car" 427 block?

427 Truck blocks are tall deck (10.200"), passenger car blocks are short deck (9.800")

Always check the Suffix and/or casting #'s as it's the big trucks that got the tall-deck blocks and the light duty trucks etc had the short-deck BB Passenger car engines..
Through to the 80's GM Pickups, 1-Tons, Suburbans also Motorhomes too are great places to find the short-deck Passenger car Chevy BB's!.
If you find one don't forget to bring up the truck blocks are worth less story.

Yeah, but these engines you are talking about would be 454s not 427s. I could be wrong but I don't recall any true standard deck 427s being installed in any trucks

Can you tell a 2 bolt 512 from a 4 bolt 512 without removing the pan if the stamping is gone?
