OMG I just spit coke all over the keyboard... that's a damn good one Steve... maybe it's in the Coach Handbag I bought her for Valentines Day... it sure is big enough...

I was trying to figure out a way to write it without it sounding too perverted. Oh well...

I do have my 35 year old Craftsman ring compressor if you really need to borrow one. It has worked on many a small block Chevy, half a dozen 426 Hemis and I even taught my daughter how to use it when we were putting together the 455-HO. She's gonna make some car guy a happy man some day. He better be rich, though.

I am actually going to buy a good one tomorrow. Ring compressor that is...

The girlfriend has no idea what a crankshaft or ring compressor is... I was telling her about what we were doing and she listened very intently then I said "do you even know what I am talking about" to which she replied... "I have no idea" unfortunately I know this too will change... it will be... you are messing with a car again... at least she knows what I am laying under

LOOK I "found" a yellowed washer bottle!

Man if you guys need yellow washer bottles just ask your friends up north. I don't know if it was the cold or what but yellow is the common color. I cannot find white ones. That one in the picture is white to us.

I also have a V1I14DZ, K78, 3932386 casting number with 19N557648 vin number on it.

My 69 is a Feb Car 02D with 9N613224 vin number. I have owned my Z for 30 yrs

Steve,
Told the girlfriend the story about the ring compressor and she laughed so hard, also told her that I knew eventually the feigned interest in automobiles would wane... she gave me a real serious look as she nodded her head in agreement.

James

James, I can't find a vin on mine either. I attached a pic of the front pad. My other DZ block has a vin stamped on the front pad in front of the DZ code. The DZ looks like a double stamp, all the other codes on the block indicate it was a 302.

That is correct... the early DZ would have it on the top pad... the change over was around January for the Norwood cars and a few months later for Van Nuys.

We buttoned up the bottom end last night... She is looking real good ... and the DZ looks good as well Steve...
We're gonna put the heads and intake on today... if I could get my hands on a clutch we might be able to get the engine back in place tomorrow...
Got a new set of Hooker Super Comps that are matte black Jet Hot Coated... along with a chambered system... can't wait to hear her screaming...

James, Good idea on the matte black coating on the headers. The car should have a great vintage look with them on. It would be nice to see a photo of how they look.
