Here's an OLD pic I took at one of our local Gulf Coast Trans Am Club drags - back in the early 80's. I was there with my 455SD powered '75 T/A, and had recently sold my Lucy Blue '72 LeMans GT, so this car caught my eye.

A 455 powered T41 '72 LeMans GT. For some DUMB reason, I never got a chance to look under the hood or at the VIN to see if it was an HO car or not, and I never saw the car again.

If one looks closely, you can just make out the aforementioned die cast "455" emblem on the front fender.

I just talked with Dan Jensen and he told me that they indeed should get the badges. So I stand corrected.

However, if it was a GTO, I think the case would be differently. I didn't confirm this with him.

Okay Head on over to PY website and check out the pics! Sorry I haven't figured out how to post pics here yet, so I posted them there, or here: http://forums.performanceyears.com/eve/u...6603607&p=3

I just got back from seeing the car. Boy, it sure is nice! There are some incorrect items on the car: Fender vents are circular mesh, not square, the crossover looks to be missing, aluminum sticker on the radio knob area in the bezel, center console lid has no button, some cosmetics on the grillslacement of the pontiac but hey, who notices that stuff anyway?

But my heart fell out when I saw this.

Please some one tell me I'm wrong about the rivot. 72 had upside done regular rivots, right?

The SN will be on the frame also. I would check or have someone check before sending a dime. If it is correct they should have no problem putting it up on a hoist and checking the frame for the SN.

I know nothing about rivets other than they hold stuff together.

Nice eye on the rivot, looks like the plastic piece is missing that normally surrounds the VIN. Typically you wouldn't see the rivots with that piece in place. Obviously all that has been painted too. I wanted to check the VIN on the block to see if it matched, but I would have had to do some creeping and crawling. I had my 7 mo. old with me, so I did a quick viewing.

Last night I went in the garage to take a pic of my GT-37 star rivets and broke the plastic piece taking it off, haha.

And then I couldn't even get a good pic.
