-------Is it possible that this fella was obsessed with perfection and just wanted a perfect tag along with everything else on the car? I mean c-mon, look at the resto. I know guys in the Corvette world that are that anal. Not saying its right, just asking if its possible, as its one hell of a nice ride!...........Bill S

That's what I was thinking Bill. The original tag was beat up so he got a new one made by Trim Tags to match the old one. If that's the case, it's no big deal(IMO). But did you notice how big the spread is in body numbers between the car being discussed and this latest post? 05C and 05E with a difference of 40,000 + on the body number?

Actually, I went out and saw that car. It is here in Houma, Louisiana. The problem is that the block was decked, then restamped. The rear is a not a BE, and then there is the trim tag. I personally do not know if it is a real CoPo or not, but for that kind of money I would want to know!
And now that picture of a trim tag that is not the one that is (or was a few weeks ago when I went out to look at the car) on the car? Why the change if it is legit? The owner really seemed nice, and if I asked a question, did not aviod the answer. I wonder if the person selling the car for him posted that trim tag pic? Rich

I would think whoever restored the car would know what it was when they started the resto. Are there any pics of this car before or during its restoration?

I have been looking at the pictures side by side carefully. Is there any way that the pic on the auction (with the painted tag) could have been taken shile the tag was off during resto and they "cleaned it up" by stripping the paint off somehow before they put it back on? The offset of the ST and BDY/PNT lines look very similar, if not exact.

"Did you ask him if it was a clone? Did he do the resto or did he buy it as it sits?"
yes, and his response was that he would not guarantee anything. He *thought* it was a copo. He is sure that he got the car with a numbers matching (the vin on the deck?) 427 in it. Then during the restoration and engine rebuild, the block was "restamped" exactly as it was. Also, the intake is not an GM aluminum one, but painted gray. He does have a original GM/Winters intake date coded near the car, but it is not on the car (has some issue if I remember?) He had it restored by a guy in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. From what I understand, for big dollars. I mentioned 50 grand and he smiled and said "Much More". At that time, he said his cash price was 75k, if I remember correctly, so the reserve is getting close. Again, great looking car. Not a drop of oil.

The owner of the COPO sent me 3 or 4 emails last year, offering the car to me for 90k.
