Pete thanks for greeting, your kline ads bring back memories. I took delivery in march of 68, it was cold and snowing the night I bought 8016, the first photos I have of that car behind my apartment show the snow around it, march in minnesota is the end of winter. Your question about non yenko, l72 camaros, is no, kline only had yenko 427 camaros. I worked at kline, in sales, in the mid 1970s, and looked at the sales records of 1967, 1968, 1969.I copied the sales records of all the 68 camaros sold. In the ads you posted, you notice that the 68 yenkos did not sell well, in some of the ads in 68 kline has advertised both 67 and 68 yenkos together, without stating the year. As far as 68 yenkos go there were no dealer trades, where they traded yenkos. the six they started with was the 6 they sold. If you know how car dealerships work, when a yenko dealership received a car from yenko in PA they already had the shipping freight from the factory to yenko chev and then from yenko chev to the yenko dealer, so the cars were double freighted, if you then traded one of those yenkos to another dealer, you would have 3 freight charges, making the car almost impossible to sell... Jay Kline son, Steve Kline was the reason the dealership had the yenkos and all the other muscle cars. kline did well in 67 on the yenkos , not so in 68. And remember on Lake Street in MPLS there were 2 yenko dealers about 3 miles apart, kline and Grossman chevrolet....Anyway the part I want to tell you is kline 1968 yenkos were 2 colors ,3 rally green, 3 island teal , for 100% sure, this will not make a few people happy I am sure...........thanks ys 8016

Your last sentence must be referring to 8011 known as the Desert Rat and restored by Rick Nelson one of our members. I have a hard time believing he would be part of any kind of fraud.

Charley, Just thought it was about time I told some people, what they have been trying to find out for years, about the colors Yes I talked to rick nelson several times when he started the restoration, he even sent me photos of the car before he started, which I still have with his messages, I told him that kline chev had never had any dark blue 68 yenkos, or any without spoilers. why has that car not sold ? plenty of time. that car has no early history. I was not talking about 8011 in particular, in my last sentence, a few other cars are the wrong color. I think a few others on this site know the same thing..............thanks for listening...ys..8016

Before anything goes too far offside, let's gather/examine all facts possible and maybe the pieces will fit and we'll all learn something new. The '68 Kline cars on the list here indicate colors D(GB)#8005=D + E(FB)#8008 + J(RG) 8014 and -- for #8011 which is FB also has it's original MM tag. #8010 & #8016 have no colors noted but if list here is correct and #8016 RG, maybe #8010 was Island Teal/Color F? </div></div> Not sure what fraud I could commit. The car is a known Yenko car with a - - paint code and the Fathom Blue has been proven beyond any shadow of doubt that it came with that color and was WELL documented before any wrenches were turned. As far as coming from Kline I believe there is proof to that as well so where is the fraud Bob? <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> I told him that kline chev had never had any dark blue 68 yenkos, or any without spoilers.</div></div> As you should also note and have been told, the rear deck (original to the car) was found with several brazed holes in the decklid to mount a spoiler and this too was documented. We could find NO proof that a front spoiler was mounted so we did not put one back on. I also could not prove what was on the car for a rear spoiler, be it a Yenko spoiler or a GM spoiler so Dana opted to leave the spoiler off until such time it could be proved what came on the car including a chin spoiler or not. You also argued that no Yenko emblems were mounted the way they are on Dana's car which we also confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt and has been proven on other cars. Lastly, we have a photo of what we believe to be this very car at Twin Cities Drag Way and you can see the Yenko emblem and where it was mounted in the photo.

nelson....I never mentioned your name and the word fraud,I believe that was someone else....I see you are still a believer in letting your mouth outrun your brain..anyway if you are so very sensitive about the car being authentic, why the add on sw guages under the dash, and the tach near the steering wheel???those cars had none, ohh yes someone did use the word authentic in conjuction with the afore mentioned 68 dark blue yenko, those 2 do not go together and never have. Please go back to your world of old car magazines, and other people memories of their youth and the new yenkos THEY OWNED . And yes you are right about one thing...I am very sure at one time there was a dark blue 68 camaro at minnesota dragways.........thanks for your time....ys 8016...

Bob, is it possible that things like gauges an tach were added at point-of-sale? I know that Yenko cars sold from Yenko Chev in PA could pretty much get anything added, and if the person paid in cash then it wasn't added to the bill of sale.... Just a thought, as many of us have learned an awful lot about the 'impossibleness' of Yenko cars!
