It would be interesting to know just how many members here have called about the car even after it was said the car is sold.

Sal (the owner of the car) called me very early this AM and here is how the conversation went.

He said that he wanted cash, I said I would come down now to look at and give a deposit for the car. He then told me that he needed to get permission from his friend because that is where the car is being kept and his friend has valuable cars there (an L-S6 convertable among others) I said I could respect that and he said that he would call me between 3-4 PM this afternoon after he got out of work and I could come look at it tonight. I again said that I was coming down with the intention of putting a deposit on the car after my inspection, then I would return on Tuesday when the banks opend with the balance of what we agreed upon in cash. He said that would be fine.

We also taked at length about the Baldwin Motion cars He knew some, but not much about them. I asked if it had a hone over drive and he didn't know. I then asked if it had side pipes and again he didn't know. I asked if the car had a L-88 hood or a 67 corvette stinger hood. He then said that it had the stinger hood with a white stripe on it.
He said that the car had an document from Baldwin Chevrolet. And I asked if that was where the car was originally delivered to and he said yes it was. He asked why I wanted to know and I explained to him the diffrence in value between a Baldwin delivered car and a motion modified car, he again didn't know about that. He then told me that he never drove the car since he bought it 19 years ago out of hemmings.
I still have not heard from Sal. Is it legit or is it bogus If it is legit then Sal is getting short changed because I am willing to double the $50,000.00 offer.

Does it matter if I get the car? It would be nice... but my happeness does not come from things so I wont lose sleep over it.
I now will get the popcorn out and continue to enjoy this thread.
There is much more to this but I am not good at conveying my thoughts with a key board.
Rich.

I didn't mean you, Jeff. I meant Hawaiian Camaro Jeff. Sorry for the confusion.

I am telling you that the offer to give more than asking price was made at 6 am this morning. I don't know what the seller is thinking or doing, but 6 am was when the larger offer was made and accepted. Everything after that, in my opinion, is the seller following the smell of money.

Guys, can you imagine this? You are cleaning out your attic. You run across a painting of some sea-scape. You know it is an original and that the painter was very good, but not much else. So, you think to yourself--"heck, I'll ask $200 for this thing. It should bring that?" Then, news of your painting gets out to the artsy-fartsy world and your phone goes nuts!! 6 am your phone rings and you talk to a guy who will give you way more than you are asking for it, so you say "heck yes-- DONE!"....BUT you continue to get these calls from everyone and thier dogs who are willing to fight over it. Crap, gotta go to work because we are down 1,000 units at the factory-- can't deal with this now. When you went to bed last night all you had was a car you thought you could get some money for instead of it continuing to sit and gather dust. Now, today you have some pretty heavy hitters FIGHTING over your car and willing to get into a bidding war over it-- and the denominations are enough to pay off your friggin' house. All the while thinking, man-- how much could I have gotten for this on eBay?

I would absolutely agree with this! I wonder. But, my opinion is that cash in hand talks, BS walks. Bottom line is, the conversations that happened this am were without each other's knowledge and weren't willfully harming anyone. Now, anyone who goes after the car outside of these initial two or three people is in a different catagory altogether IMHO.

This is starting to sound a little like the Ebay Yenko Camaro story from a couple years ago.

Yep, blood in the water. A feeding frenzy. How disapointing it is to witness this "all about the money" attitude on this site!
When it's all over, everybody's going to hate the seller and the eventual buyer. Nobody's going to appreciate the CAR!!!!!! ONLY the MONEY.
It's SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The seller is not the culprit. He sold the car to someone for profit, real or fake its gone. Are people upset because they lost an oppurtunity to make money or because they really wanted to drive a BM Nova? I wish I had bought a number of stocks before they took off, but I didn't. Like Verne said, the feeding frenzy continues.

Congrats to the Iowa buyer. If it all turns out to be as described, it was one huge score. Can't wait to hear about the car and see some pictures. There was another big supercar find in the last few weeks and I'm sure the new owner will give some details when he is ready. The exciting thing is there are more of these cars out there waiting to be discovered.

I personally can say that I won't hate anyone after this deal regardless of outcome. I am personally excited to see if the car is real or not.....and the beauty of all this is. A person who purchased the car 20 years ago will be the real beneficiary. See my point?

Did i miss something? when the number is called, i get mailbox not yet set up. How did anyone talk to this guy? I think there is alot of BS in this thread, and some may say things to lead others to believe it is sold to by themselves time to make the deal. Just my take......... Roger
