Now I really like my early MSD 7A- it isn't a 7AL and it doesn't have the bid plastic cover on the side of it. So when I saw this unit here on ebay, I had to have it. The bonus was that nobody else felt the same way and I didn't have to "overpay" for it.

I beleive this was the 1st generation desing of the MSD unit. I know they were around in 1976 and the company started manufactuing systems ~ 1970 so does anyone know when this design first hit the scene?

Note the large heatsink base that the cover bolts to.

Default Small vinyl top on Nova

Were these small vinyl tops common back in the 70´s ? I remember an ad by a California company I think, selling these small vinyl tops. Pic was probably taken in 1977.

Anders, it kind of looks like the automotive equivalent of male pattern baldness.

They had a lot of landau vinyl tops that covered the other half of the roof but I dont think your style in the photo was too common.

I thought the later Duster tops were kinda odd, but the one on the Nova isn't any better since it kinda looks like a book-end to the Duster.

later:

early
