Oh yeah.. Just like one certain Gold Yenko that sold at auction for well below its value. I believe that person lost more then his shirt in that DEAL. Oh trust me there is so much interest for your car.. don't worry and BOOM where were all the bidders. You guys know as well as I that ALL the TOP SHELF cars do not sell at Auction. Again just my OPINION

Auctions are a gamble if it's no reserve period. No one is disputing cars sell privately, but certainly your assertion that auction cars are leftover is not accurate for many cars bought and sold at auctions. People bring them to auction because of the exposure they receive and the hope on capitalizing. If your car in a no reserve auction you roll the dice, and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. A great deal depends on the venue and timing of the market. Owners should know going in what the risks are. Let's move on you made your point.

Auction cars are assembled for a lot of different reasons. From my witness, I see pure vanity, or ego or whatever you want call it. So many owner/sellers seem to thrive on the spotlight at the expense of parting with their trophy. Seems like a paradox to me.
Not dissing the auction, but you have to admit the entire thing seems a little odd. |

Mark,
Weird deal. I found out about the car from a good friend, and the story is pretty straightforward: the guy purchased the car new at age 37 and got busy with life and parked it. He started it 6 times a year and changed the oil every 3 years. I literally had to build a small bridges in several places to get it out of a ravine where the car was stored in a garage on a small hill. This was an issue since rain and erosion had changed the angle of approach to the paved driveway surface so much over 30 years from the garage where it was stored. RPO DX3 is on the window sticker. The car was sold new at Classic Chevrolet in Mentor Ohio, and it is very likely I looked at this particular car on the lot back in 1989. The salesmen there ordered lots of DX3 cars back then, they called it the sleeper look and it sold well locally. They always had about 25-30 Camaros on the lot then at any particular time. It is a 100% time capsule. Car is performance optioned 350 L-98 and the Borg Warner 9 bolt, all the go fast goodies are present. |

Mentor, OH... go figure. My parents lived there back in the 60’s and early 70’s before moving to TN. Bought the 68 L78 from Glasscock Chevrolet and the 66 L34 Chevelle from Earl Evans.

WOW, that IROC is beautiful, and I've never seen the stripe delete before. Congrats on the purchase, that's an amazing time capsule.
