[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I wish I could have been there when these cars roamed the streets. Looks plain jane till you pull up next to it. No wonder not many have the original drivetrain, they were always provoked to race someone - you know it. Plain Jane camaros on roids. Nice car. [/ QUOTE ] Heck I was around when they were new and clearly recall prowling the lot at Dale Chev in 1969. It is probably difficult for those new to the hobby to believe but as recently as 20 years ago these cars were no big deal. Having already admitted to leaving a relatively intact Olympic gold Yenko in a junkyard here's another flashback for you. Circa '82-'83 a friend calls. There is a '69 Camaro parked outside Peach's Auto Service on Milwaukees' south side. It is on a battery charger so the hood is up. The car is a beater, nothing special but has a bb heater box. This gets his attention as there are no SS emblems on it so he copies the VIN: 124379N613633. It was some college kid's beater that probably could have been had for a song. Like I said, at that time they were no big deal. [/ QUOTE ] Excuse my ignorance but, what does that VIN number correspond to? Was it a COPO car? |

Cool deal William...thanks for the memories. I barely remember these cars...as I was more into the 69 Trans Am's....Z/28's, etc.
I also agree with Stuart...they are totally cool! I hope that he gets what he's asking for also! ![]()

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] William is just giving knowledgable info that a buyer spending that kind of money should know. Roger [/ QUOTE ] Oh ok so something like an OE axle not original to the car is that important? I find that trivial, but that's me. If the car sells I would love to see the new owner ask him to tear down the car to verify originality. Rick H. [/ QUOTE ] Why? ![]() [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. The car is what it is. Rick H. |

I would like to reply this topic:
A Vette is a Vette, whether it commands 1.00 to 1,000,000.00+.... After being into Chevy cars for many years, 26 years now, one thing stands out more than anything else in my decisions to stay with the steel body 69 Camaros: Vettes were pampered versions of what a Camaro did for the public image for Chevrolet! Every Camaro ( OK , Chevelles,Novas,etc-gotta keep all of you happy) stood the test of time thru actual useage and visibilty! It still stands for Horsepower and sheer functionality that proved GM's superiority in a time when Ford & Chrysler were buliding powerplants beyond a chassis' ability. Hemis, SOHC's DOHC's, Yunick SBC Hemi's still to me play equal game to an all aluminum version of a standard BBC version, in the namee of cubic inches vs. sense. To me, quite frankly, GM did simply only convert a basic BBC engine into a Mammoth display of enginuity without spending heaps of time and R&D and money to deliver what still is today.... what most all others then were only trying to perfect! ![]()

Rick, Do you know anything about that sticker on the windshield? [/ QUOTE ] These stickers came out in 1967 as part of the Division-Wide "Number One Team" quality & spirit program. They were available to Chevy employees to put on their bumpers or wherever they wanted. The #1 team program was initially begun in manufacturing, and the logo designed by Jam Handy,(the 35MM Communication kit movie maker),but it was spread all over Chevrolet. I have many different ones in my personal collection: *Engineering Center-(actually "Eng'ring Center") *Sales Leader-(from the Central Office Sales Dept.) *Willow Run *Central Office *Tonawanda Motor ![]() |

I asked the question of the seller and he replied he didn't know what it was..... a friend had gotten it at a flea market and he put it on because it was "cool". I think they're pretty neat especially that Tonawanda one. I'm gonna keep my eye out for these as I think they would look "cool" on a car also. Damn, Rick you're good... I wouldn't want to play "Stump the Band" if you were in the band.

Mr Corvette (Zora) had a lot of influnce on all the GM cars in a round about way. If it fit a vette then if you know the right person you could wind up with it on a Camaro/Chevelle/Nova/Impalla.
We all should be gratefull to him. He is the one that made the small block run like it did and that wound up in all the car lines. Not to mention he was a true Car guy. Pantera
