Thats a good question Pat and I don't know that I can answer this with certainty. I have sent an email to Scott who restored the engine compartmnet maybe he can shed some light on it. I know there was a 67 and 68 SS427 on ebay recently and both had the spacer. They were both low horse cars but I don't know if that makes a differnce or not. Maybe someone else on this site has the answer?

For your reference here are pictures from the 700 mile original car sold at Mecum a couple years ago and now owned by David Bongarzone
![]() And also from the car known as Ennis' Menace. ![]() Looking at pictures of your car, it looks like the fan is right at the edge of the shroud instead of half way in, the spacer would fix that.

Thanks for the help Pete. I have been collecting pictures to use as reference as I am working on my tribute car. So it helps to know what is right when I can find the info.

WoW! nice piece. I had a 68 L-72 427-425 4 speed 4.88 back in the 1970 .... I don't remember it having a A.I.R. pump, did they all come with this option or was it just a California deal?

Yes regardless of the plant it was built at the air pump would have been on all 68 L72 427s.

In regards to the radiator spacer question I am not sure but this is what we have found in the 1968 assembly manual. It shows that if the car was ordered with heavy duty cooling option which mine has it should have big radiator(4 core), clutch fan, fan schroud but it doesn't show the radiator to core support spacer. I know sometimes the assembly manual is inaccurate but wright or wrong that is why the restorer didn't use it. i know it runs cool enough the way it is.

Mick, That makes sense. Thanks for finding and sharing the information. Good luck on your sale, I wish I had space for two Biscaynes.
