We'll get him there. I'm pretty sure he'll be at the reunion this year,................. maybe behind the wheel of a Black Chevelle on Friday.
![]() ![]() Here's some shots of the 'Flag racing'. Note the 'Starter' out front in the smoke. Brought back some good memories. ![]() Of course, with no electronics the cars had to be staged manually. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

More shots from the pits.
Sherman Devening from Jerseyville, about thirty miles South of me. He used to run this car at White Hall, then known as the "Jersey Jumper". ![]() ![]() Team cars? Kinda strange to be different manufacturers but Cool none the same. ![]() ![]() Another local guy. Peat used to run at Alton. ![]() You need to hear this thing run. ![]() ![]() ![]() Larry is a good friend of Tim Wilkerson. Tim called Larry last week and told him to strap in tight. He said the new launch pad at Gateway hooked like velcro. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Stopped for a couple of shots of the gassers and struck up a conversation with one of the owners. (far left) Saturday was the first time out for this car. He told us he was there with a borrowed truck, borrowed trailer and borrowed slicks. The entire car was built in his garage at home from a sadly rusted hulk he drug out of a ditch around Poplar Bluff, MO. Paid $200 for the body and frame then patched it all back together. The photos he had of the entire project were amazing. The top tag is the original VIN tag for the car.
![]() ![]() ![]() Here he is on the return road. ![]() 472 Caddy powered. ![]() ![]() My kinda guys. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

One final bunch. Thought this was kinda cool.
![]() ![]() Wondered where in the world he found a 'glass flip front-end for a '50 Chevy so we asked him. He told us he had it made from an old mold by someone in Ashtabula Ohio. He said, "Probably never heard of the place, have you?" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Wow Dennis, great pics. Your timing on the starting line shots was perfect, catching both cars hanging their wheels.
Someone should hire you on as a magazine photographer. I love the Nostalgia Super Stocks too. Thanks for sharing. |

The photo of me racing the blue T/A, I was expecting a little larger movement of the flag, instead I saw a small flick of the wrist. That shot is of me burbing the throttle and hitting the brakes at the same time!!!! ![]() ![]()

Oops! Sorry. I left my glasses in the truck and was watching through the viewfinder so I really wasn't sure which one was you. Honestly, didn't know if ANY of the shots were gonna be useful!
Sometimes you get lucky. ![]()
