the real story here is about the people who have spent 10's and 100's of thousands on cars which they will never receive.

i can't feel bad for somebody that should have known better than to give up that kind of cash and get nothing in return but a promise.

Doesnt Oregon have no sales tax on collector cars? I thought I heard something about guys from surrounding states getting p.o. box there just to get around sales tax. This was a few years back though.

Oregon has no sales tax - period. Its where many Washingtonians go to shop for big-ticket items. States like Washington have really cracked down in recent years on people who purchase/register their cars across the border.

Oregon has no sales tax, on any car. I have had most of my cars tagged in Oregon for the last 30 years, havent lived there in 25years. Totally legal since I was Active Duty Military and Or was my home of record, now that I retired from the AF I will have to change my ways. At the BJ auction here there is an inordinate number of Or tags that go across the block. In AZ they look at the NADA value from the appropriate year. They will pull out a ratty NADA book, look up a 70 Chevelle and your LS6 tag cost is about $28 based on the original purchase cost. Private party purchase only, if it is an in state or out of state dealer they want the sales tax on the purchase price.
