Awesome cars! Hey, just out of curiousity... is that hood tach on the purple car a Dixco HT/x with the Mopar logo on the faceplate? I'm no Mopar expert, but I know they sold those through the Mopar "Hustle Stuff" catalogs... I have never seen one installed on a car.
Looks cool.

As Johnny Carson would say "you are correct sir"
The car being a 440-6 did not come standard with a rally dash (ie tach)like the Hemicuda so we are under the assumption (Galen, Dennis Kohr and myself) that the dealer fired up the hood tach out of the hustle stuff catalog.
and you are indeed correct it is a Dixco HT/x however it is labeled as such not plymouth or mopar.
when we discovered the car the decision was made to keep it as a period correct piece, besides ya need a tach. (shift by sound is too danderoulsy expensive these days) It makes an already ultra rare mopar that much more intriguing.

And ...........it works awesome... get to keep my head up to see peoples faces when the dana barks the carpets

My 71 had the Shaker and white top and interior, It did not have the tract pack, The car came with a
8 ¾ with a 390 gear.. I also remember that the car had an overhead console. Which I though was so
kool I brought the car in 1978 after a few other owners had their fun with Her. The owner before me
put a set of heads off of his 67 GTX on the car but he gave me the originals. A couple of Mopar Gurus
told me to put a Pinion Snubber on the rear. The beast use to bend them up as though they were made
of tin foil. Joe Jenson made me a set of torque bars. The car launched hard and straight with them.
Unfortunately the car still did not corner at high speeds. I had many a White Knuckle encounters on
those Ottsville Bucks County back roads. Young and dumb. I just showed these pictures to Karen and
she remembers the car well and also no interest of ever getting into another one.
Sorry to get off subject but my love affair goes way back on this car.

I remember alot of the same issues with a 71 Road Runner I owned so many years ago. I guess I can never buy another one of those, because my wife would automatically take off her clothes and jump in the back seat anytime she saw it.
