Obviously the inference from this guy is that I have something to hide. Anyone with half a brain can see for themselves that it is the opposite. Something was clearly not right with the paperwork and the NCRS report has put the final nail in the coffin. I was asked yesterday by a friend whether I was concerned that the build sheet was not real and my response was that I was more disappointed in the guy who restored the car, passed the docs off as being real and sold the car, at least partly on the fact that it had legitimate paperwork. I also rang the guy to ask him about the car prior buying it off the seller who now owned it, and he told me he found the build sheet under the back seat. Pathetic really. Make no mistake I would have bought the car docs or not, but they were the cherry on top.
It's disappointing but I'm not going to take a header off a bridge over it.

It's a great service indeed, but remember that the GM records that NCRS uses only state the dealer that the final assembly plant shipped it to, not necessarily where it was finally sold. Dealer trades won't show up, so some genuine sales documentation might not match NCRS dealer info. Also, the NCRS system involves human input so there is always a slight possibility of a typo leading to an error.
Damien - did your car always reside in the same area before you bought it, as otherwise whoever created your PoP, build sheet etc got pretty close picking a dealer only an hour away from the actual dealer. Does your car have the factory original drivetrain out of curiosity?

Tim, from what info I could gather at the time the car spent most of its life in the Atlanta area. The guy who restored it is from the same area and he gave me the standard little old lady story when I spoke to him prior to purchasing the car off the guy he sold it to. The guy I bought it off, who was a stand up guy all the way thru our dealings, was in Connecticut. It is a numbers matching car.
