BTW, I met Kim (for a very short time at SCR8). He is a stand up guy...though I think he was sitting down ![]() [/ QUOTE ] Or lying down with rasberries! ![]() [ QUOTE ] If by "taken off line" you mean one on one with a PM, I agree. But I don't agree if you mean a post deleted. I am pretty sure you meant the former though. [/ QUOTE ] However, there are exceptions. Occassionally someone on here gets publically hammered. That can sometimes be a good thing and it is necessary. I remember one such case with Chad and I over the DH Camaro. If not allowed to publically defend ourselves, the instigator would have looked like a hero. Talkin on line allows the person to defend what others have accused them of but it also gives the accused a chance to sit back and look at themselves and see things they need to work on that they did not realize they were doing. Some peoples poop really does stink, they just were not aware of it. Rick

I usually don't get into these altercations but I have a little spare time. Lets see...... I have one truck I've owned since I was 15 years old. I've owned cars for 5 years or more sold them, and lost and made money. I've bought cars and had them a few hours and sold them for a profit. I've rebuilt trashed cars and sold them sometimes immediately on completion or have kept some for years and made money and lost money or broke even on these cars. I've had several nice original cars some I've kept for years some days. I don't think anyone should make accusations on why I do what I do. Hell, If you ask me, I honestly wouldn't give you the same answer from day to day. I love cars I drive the crap out of anything I own. We ALL need to learn there is a place for everyone in this hobby. Just because someone participates in a different way than you it doesn't make then a bad guy. In the immortal words of Rodney King............... Guy's grow up it's not really about the cars it's about the people. If you don't like someone that's fine but somewhere he has a buddy that would love to drink a beer and swap a car story or two so what do you accomplish by making an enemy of someone. How many cars will cry or tell a funny stories about you at your funeral.

No one is answering my questions............. Marlin- if you were to help me locate/get a 68 Yenko Camaro (which I am sure you would if I were in that position), and for whatever reason I had to sell it at some point-- 1) how long would it take and.... 2) what amount of profit would you be comfortable with me making....or 3) what situations (just an example or two) would you find acceptable to you before you felt as though I had just done it to increase my bankroll? THESE are the questions that need defined. Problem is, I don't think it is that easy and also your tolerance level for the three questions above will change depending on the familiarity and relationship I have with you. Right? That is human nature. There are 20 negative responses in this thread alone reagrding the negativity to "flipping" cars. But so far, I haven't gotten any concrete indications of what really constitutes the infraction. [/ QUOTE ] You are trying to fit a million situtations into a simple equation, and it's not that easy. There is no defined time period whereby the 'flipper' status expires, there is always the possibility that when you get the dream car home - the wife tells you to sleep in it, the amount of profit made is almost irrelevant - but does weigh on the sincerity of the reasons given for the quick sale. This stuff is more of a gut feel, 'taken advantage of' feel, it's not too easy to build a protocol out of. Suffice to say, that when someone tells you that 'this car is what I've dreamt about since I was 16...' - and when you (and others) step aside to help the person acquire it, at a good price, only to see it for sale later that week - you no longer trust or believe that person. It's as simple/complicated as that ![]()

Not to throw more mud in the water, but there is another side to this..If not for the fact that 2 guys on this site "flipped" a car, I'd probably still be searching for my dream car instead of enjoying it
![]() Just a thought. ![]()
