Make sure the voltage regulator is grounded. Been there done that. Missed the wire going from the back of the voltage regulator to the core support.

X2, especially if you used the rubber shock mounts, just take a jumper wire to it and try that.

Thanks Jason/Mike....I don't have the regulator mounted on rubber, but I also don't have a ground wire on it. I always assumed it was grounded just with the 3 mounting screws. I'll look into that today.

Someone pointed out, in the video, the generator light wasn't on when we first fired the motor, but it started coming on dim, then lit up bright. So we were thinking the regulator took a dump in the first couple mins, that the engine was running. I was more concerned with the temp gauge not working.

I also have the original 69 dated reg, that was working fine before I dismantled the car. I was gonna try that regulator last night, but I had drained the radiator, to add anti-freeze, and couldn't run it.....I'll pick up the anti-freeze today, and check out the regulators, WITH ground wires.

FWIW I've not had good luck with the new Delco regulators, actually no luck at all. They just didn't seam to function like the old ones. I had to switch to a solid state and replaced the cover with the old Delco one. I have no idea why, but after five or six pegging to full charge after a few weeks, I quit trying...

The regulator is now working. My fault. You guys were right. There are 2 ground wires in the front light harness, near the left side headlight. One should go to one of the 3 screws that hold the reg to the fire wall. I had them both on the horn relay screw. I have 14.6 volts now. It is a new Delco reg, but this one is working fine, if it's grounded correctly.

Noticed that when you first posted this photo 2 mos. ago and thought you're just laying things out & will get to them.
Glad to hear you did.

This may be the reason my Nova isn't charging enough to run the lights very long after dark. I'm fine all day long but night driving is killing the battery. I had both of those grounds fastened to the core support. I'm assuming one fastens to the voltage regulator and the other to the horn relay? I had the Alternator tested and have a new Voltage regulator and new horn relay...

The "punch list" must be getting pretty short now.

Will she move under her own power.......?
