The '840 head in question is infact an H 24 7 casting date, not a 1970 date. I believe that is the screw head that looks something like a "0". Steve

The motor in my bel Air is a 1968 396 that still has the numbers on the front pad....it is an MY code that I believe is for a 1968 camaro....I may build a 427 for the Bel Air and see if I can find someone that could use that '68 motor.
