This is an email I just recieved about the car. I hope this might help your out. From what I remember about the xxxx code that it was a $3000. option. It was a special order car and you could order the car anyway you liked. Also, the car could have been painted any color you want, it could have even been painted a Ford or Chrysler color. YES This is an extremely rare car. At that time only celebrities or wealthy people purchased this option and I think that 10-12 cars were built like this. I guess that it could be considered a COPO but went far beyond that because it could not be purchased from your local Chevy Dealer. You may want to consider this lead.

Glenn, hear is the story on how I got the info. on the XXXX I am 42 years old
and when I was in High School in 1980 my father and I lived in Pittsburgh and I
was building a 1934 Chevrolet Sedan street rod. We traveled many time to the
Carlise Swap meet. At one of the meets I picked up a rusted out 1969 Camaro for
$50. to install the motor in the 34 Chevy. The guy I bought it from delt in
these old Camaros. He gave me the information that you have listed on your Ebay
auction. Some of the information he read from paperwork he had with him and some
was from general conversation. He told me at that time he was looking for one
of those XXXX Camaros. He told me the story and told me that if I ever saw one
of those cars to buy it. Beleive it or not that I was so intrigued by this story
, I still remember the conversation like it was yesterday. So in the last 25
years everytime I see a 1969 Camaro with the hood up I always looked to see if
its a XXXX car. I have never seen one till this day.
I have no information to prove this story or any reason deny it. Thats why a
gave it to you as a lead. I now live in Arizona and have restored may car over
the years.
My thoughts on the car that is a highly optioned convertible that was
pricey to begin with, then to add 3,000. to the price made it very expensive.
Since the car could be painted any color and with any option that the car
was close to being hand built thats why it could have a CE motor in it, I would
assume that if the date codes is about the same time frame the car was built
they probably pulled it from the shelf and could possibly be the original motor. I would attempt to do a title search on the car. But it would take years going to multiple states.
I am sorry I can't help you anymore, but there seemed to be paperwork back in 1980 on these cars
