Not typical engine stamp. The rear is coded QL which decodes to 331 non posi and trans stamp should start with P = Muncie 7 = year or P7 which it doesn't, and no claims of originality of drivetrain.

This 323 from a '67 Chevelle was cast F 8 7 and stamped T0630 same as Steve's L78. Any known 323's cast/built earlier than these??

Hmmm 🤔, got me thinking about my rear end housing code stuff. I remember Mike S. telling me he got the rear from Bob Harris. The ring n pinion is 3:73.Get back later.

Any thoughts on the trim tag ? Should a 07B car have a 406 or a 323 block ?

It's ironic you ask that question because in 1996, I had to prove my 323 block came in late production 67 L78 Camaros. The conventional wisdom at the time was skeptical about the usage. This is a 1994 version of By The Numbers in later versions this was updated to confirm the usage. Back to your question you need data points to prove your question. I know of 3 7B built cars with 323 blocks.
In addition heads 840 were used in late production such as my car and the temp sender boss was not drilled or tapped since the sender was not mounted in the head until 1968.
