I am not sure but a source maybe the Corvair club up here. CORSA Ontario.
One member comes to mind. John Gray. He has a YENKO Stinger. Very knowledgeable and great guy. I have Ben away from the club. But could pass some contact info along. |

Please do. Does anyone up in the Toronto area remember this car, or it being at Carter Chevrolet? It was at the dealership well over a year before selling in 1970 L78 convertible.

I think Tim Thomas told me about this car years ago so may be worth asking him also he was in touch w/ Mo's wife Sherin so may be able to provide her contact info if you need it too? Tim was the site member w/ the Carter sold '69 L78 factory HD Muncie 3-Spd. 'Velle but rolled it after an encounter w/ a bear or moose...car was written off but thankfully Tim was Ok. Others may have more current info but I have an old email address for Tim, shoot me a PM if you need it. Here's a link to a thread w/ pics of the accident... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...opics/595762/2 Cool car!!! ~ Pete

Yes - They were in Rexdale when I had them build an engine for me.... It was a grenade :^). A school friend ended up working for them as well. |

I have a Yenko Stinger built as a prototype in May 1966 for Mo, who wanted them approved for racing in Canada Paperwork is signed by Don Yenko.

Here is a quote from an online source
" Mo Carter's dealership, City Chevrolet - Oldsmobile was being set up in April 1966 to be the Yenko Sportscars dealer in Canada. The Stinger that I am restoring appears to have been the prototype built ( with GM influence ) to be inspected by Canadian Sports Car Club to make the cars legal to race in Canada. Mo was to be the outlet for all Yenko cars in Canada, funneling the cars to other dealers across the country as well. The high import taxes which Mo had to deal with on the 1966 Stingers were revoked for 1967, making importing the cars easier .However, I don't think much ever came of the idea , other than Don And Mo becoming friends." And another... "To clarify this issue, it is in fact a Stinger built for Mo Carter's dealership to be inspected by CASC to have Stingers approved to race in Canada. To avoid import taxes, the basic Corvair was built in Canada , taken to Canonsburg, converted to a Stinger and exported back to Canada. The taxes were then only on the conversion.By the way, there are documents in support of this process, including a 2 page export document signed by Don Yenko.A YS # was not assigned, as the Stingers were to be raced as a Category II car ( FIA rules) not as a Production Sports Car."
